Prayer For My Daughter

I never imagined I would have a daughter. I love having boys and figured God tailor made me for that role—filling their days with stories of Gideon, Samson, David, Daniel, Jesus, Apostle Paul—to name a few heroic men of the Bible.

Now, I am a mother longing to impart the knowledge and strength of biblical women to my daughter. Women of the Bible faced overwhelming odds, found strength, faith, and courage to join God’s story. Women like Hannah, Leah, Deborah, Miriam, Rahab, Abigail, Esther, Ruth, Mary of Nazareth, Mary of Bethany, Mary Magdalene, Priscilla, Lydia, Phoebe.

Through their examples of steadfast faith and—ultimately—God’s direction, their stories invite our daughters to answer God’s calling to discover and use their talents, passions, and gifts to journey with Him on a lifelong adventure.

I pray The Lord will guide me in teaching my Abigail so she receives an identity derived from Scripture. I pray to raise a daughter who responds in faith to God’s call on her life so she can be used by Him for incredible purposes.

A Prayer For My Daughter

May you be wise like Deborah,

loyal like Ruth and joyful like Elizabeth.

May your prayers be heard like Hannah’s.

May you find favor like Esther and may you have a heart like Mary of Nazareth.

May you grow to be a woman of God.
