My writing process involves immense spirituality—praying, diving deep into the Bible and connecting to HIM through the Holy Spirit. Cultivating a relationship with our Savior requires more than just going to church. Although going to church and seeking HIS word is immensely important for our soul, we need to also seek HIM daily in an intimate way.
If our Heavenly Father has a message to give, HE will find a way to insure it is received, but for this, one must be in a constant state of alignment to HIM. For three consecutive days I opened my Bible to Luke 5, but the profoundness of the message was not transmitting to my heart.
Chasing, a Christian song by Danny Gokey featuring Jordin Sparks, began to play. The lyrics drew me in and nudged my heart to reread Luke 5.
I’m just running circles getting tired.
I’ve tried to fill Your space with my desires.
Somehow You’re still here and I still feel Your touch.
God I can’t believe Your love.I’ve been chasing dreams,
Like we’re chasing the falling leaves.
I’ve been chasing things,
But all this time Lord,
You’ve been chasing me…
In Luke 5, Simon was washing (basically putting away) his net after a long night of not catching any fish. Jesus saw him from afar, even with a multitude of people gathered around him. He went to Simon and instructed him to let his net down.
“Launch into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught.”
Even though Simon doubted because he had toiled all night to no avail, he still obeyed. A vivid image of Jesus and Simon were painted in my heart. I could feel Simon’s astonishment as all the tremendous amounts of fish began to break the net and fill the ship.
Luke 5:10-11
“And Jesus said unto Simon, ‘Fear not; from henceforth thou shalt catch men.’ And when they had brought their ships to land, they forsook all, and followed him.”
You have no idea how I wept in gratitude. HE sees me and HE sees you too. HE loves unconditionally and is patient with us. HE needs us to have courage and obey when HE calls us to deep waters. Even when we toil and are not catching anything, our KING has divine plans that we cannot yet see. Plans of prosperity and a reward for our hard work. For it is in those deep waters that our Redeemer is shaping, transforming and making a new vessel that will bring glory to HIS name.
