For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God. -2 Corinthians 1:20

Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. This is what the ancients were commended for. By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.

-Hebrews 11:1-3

Have you placed something in God’s hands? Are you waiting and trusting in God to fulfill His promise but feel depleted from years of drought?

I’ve been waiting three years. But do you know what’s been the most heart shattering part of my waiting journey? Being placed directly in front of doors that would fulfill the promise, but God either closed the door or didn’t allow them to open. *Heavy sigh* Why?

I constantly war with my mind as I feel the enemy attempting to seep into my thoughts—fighting to fill it with doubt and uncertainty of who The Lord is.

I fight back with prayer and the following scripture…

I will walk by faith even when I can not see.

2 Corinthians 5:7

Does God not see our heartbreak, tears, pain, or hopelessness? Yes—He sees and is there through it all. Waiting for you and me to lay it down at His feet, so he can catch our tears.

You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded each one in your book.

-Psalm 56:8

I often imagine a special room in heaven that contains shelves filled with bottles—bottles of tears collected from every person to ever exist and still existing.

Our pain and suffering are important to The Lord. He gives us the free will to praise Him in the pain or turn away. I don’t know about you, but I much rather give all my praise to God—in the good and bad. He is mysterious and His ways are not our ways. His plans not our plans. Nevertheless, we must place all of our trust in our Heavenly Father.

I am always fighting the negative thoughts of, “What if God doesn’t come through?” But that’s just it! God knows our every thought and wants us to go to Him and pour out that negativity. Perhaps this is the most important lesson. The process of faith is not all joy, rainbows and burning bushes. Our Father wants our constant honesty and transparency when we communicate with Him—like a best friend. Releasing chains and persevering through God’s strength.

So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.

-Hebrews 10:35-36

Dear Heavenly Father,

Let me never forget that you are a God who fulfills all His promises in the appointed time. You see my suffering and will not forget me. You will send rain after years of drought. When frustration, despair and doubt arise, help me to trust in YOUR ways—even when I can not see or understand.

Amen.
